Of course all of the tomatoes in the garden came in at one time so I needed to make something besides salsa so I came up with this simple recipe DSC00575for homemade spaghetti sauce.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil
6 cloves garlic
2 28 oz cans tomato
20 roma tomatoes
2 teaspoon dried basilĀ  (or 2 tablespoons fresh)
2 teaspoon dried oregano (or 2 tablespoons fresh)

Instructions

Heat olive oil in large pot.
Add the garlic and brown.
Add the canned tomatoes and stir.
Dice the fresh tomatoes and add to the pot.
Cook for 6 to 8 hours, adding a little water as needed.
The sauce will become a dark, rich red.

    Julie,

May I ask how to cook 6 to 8 hours. Is it light cook or I can use the slow cooker? Please give me some advice.
    P.S. I am a beginner of cooking.

Sorry, I let it boil for about 5 minutes and then I cook it on low for the 6-8 hours on the stove. I’ve not tried this recipe in the crock pot yet.
